Some would say the "enemy" are the terrorists, others would say criminals or illicit drugs, some misguided souls consider 'bleeding heart' Liberals to be the "enemy". I would argue that the real enemy, at least of the Common Man, is the American politician, particularly of the Tea Party or Extreme Right-Wing of the Republican Party. With severe and ruthless cuts to services, tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires who neither need nor deserve them, an unfair and unjust distribution of wealth, scheming to repeal a health care law which actually does something about abuses by the health insurance industry and lack or nonexistent coverage for millions of Americans, endless war, an exorbitant and pretty much pointless endless war(s) policy and erosion of our collective rights, not to mention the demise of the American Dream and the emaciated Middle Class, among many other factors, with friends like the Tea Party and the Extreme Hard Right, who needs enemies?... Essay: "The Affluent and the Indigent"
Essay: "The Affluent and the Indigent"
In these tough times there are two types of people: the affluent and the indigent. Thanks to extreme right-wing policies such as: Endless War(s), the exorbitant Shadow Government known as the Department of Homeland Security, the amorphous War on Terror, short-term thinking by politicians, politically powerful but greedy people and corporate entities, deceitful and/or unethical banks, Wall Street types, ruthless and oft dishonest mortgage foreclosurers , and a tax-averse ideology, among many other factors, there are pretty much the rich, the poor and few in the middle. The American Dream and the Middle Class have both met their demise. If you're at the top of the economic food chain, your golden. If, on the other hand if you are born poor or were formerly in the Middle Class, you're basically shit out of luck (SOL). This is regardless of who is in power, but is much more blatant and cruel if the current crop of the Extreme Right-Wing of the Republican Party has their way with simultaneous tax cuts and ruthless service cuts. There are certain things only the government is capable of doing: hiring police, firefighters, teachers and public education for those who cannot afford private schools, fixing roads and bridges, improving and maintaining infrastructure, subsidizing researchers for new industries and technologies, ensuring the safety of new pharmaceuticals, foods, beverages, and products of almost every kind, having incentives to minimize pollution of air, water and land (if the government is doing its job), passing a sensible energy policy (if the government is doing its job), fighting poverty, hunger and homelessness in the USA (but not necessarily internationally), regulating harmful and/or greedy and/or deceitful and/or dishonest practices of businesses, industry and individuals, national defense, among many other things. If the Tea Party and the Hard Right of the Republican Party has their way many of these very necessary government functions will go away and as a result numerous people living here as citizens in this country will suffer and maybe even die.

"Just Say No to the TEA Party"
"Just Say No to the TEA Party"
"If the TEAParty gets in, the rich, ruthless and powerful will be rewarded, while the poor, vulnerable and powerless will basically be punished."If you are religious (which I am definitely not) pray that the TEA Party doesn't win the next Presidential election. If you are not religious, hope those Truly Extreme A-holes do not get in. If the TEA Party does win and have their way, the rich, ruthless and powerful will be rewarded, while the poor, vulnerable and powerless will basically be punished. The extreme conservative views of the TEA Party will make our economy worse, not better. They will likely increase exorbitant defense spending and intrusive and expensive privacy ignoring schemes like the Dept. Of Homeland SEcurity. , while dismantling necessary social programs and programs to improve our national infrastructure, like roads, bridges, tunnels, and the like. If they decrease taxes for everyone, including millionaires and billionaires, our nation could go the way of Rome and the Soviet Bloc in the late eighties to early nineties. After all, it takes government revenue to fund teachers, firemen, policemen, roads, bridges, schools, certain hospitals, etc. I would rather pay higher taxes than to live in a Third World country where the rich own everything and the poor have little or nothing. By the way, I fear that many women may vote for the ultra-extreme Michelle Bachmann just because she is a woman without realizing how extreme her conservative con-artist worldview is.
