According to National Public Radio, a American GI faces a court martial with 22 counts for leaking confidential information to the Wikileaks website. Among these charges are: aiding the enemy, which could potentially qualify this individual for the death penalty. Although what he did was wrong, especially in time of war, I think this person is being prosecuted more for political reasons than for legal reasons. It is likely both this soldier and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange are being targeted for payback by politically powerful people for embarrassing the Federal government and perhaps exposing secrets that the powers that be do not want the average person to know.
